Lucie (Lucy) Marie Hyden (Deveau) passed away Monday, April 5, 2004 at Chilliwack General Hospital. Lucie was born November 11, 1923 and was raised in Saulnierville, Nova Scotia.
Lucie spent several years working as a nurses aide, was a chartered and life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch #280 Vedder Golden Legion. Lucie was also a long time member of the Good Sam Club. Lucie was a long time volunteer for the Salvation Army Thrift Store and a member of the Salvation Army Chilliwack Community Church. She was a loving mother, wife and friend and will be dearly missed by her extensive family and friends.
Lucie is survived by 6 daughters; Marie (Alvin) Davis of Wainwright, AB, Agnes Walker of Prince George, Anne (Irene) Theriault of Saulinierville, N.S., Barbara (Mathurin) Comeau of Meteghan River, N.S., Brenda (Dennis) Rose of Holmes Beach, Florida and Patricia Young of Chilliwack. 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 brothers; Edward (Rita) Deveau, Alphonse (Phyllis) Deveau, Alfred (Aline) Deveau all of Nova Scotia and 4 sisters, Cecilia Hicks, Agnes Comeau, May Hicks and Prescille (Gustav) Comeau all of Nova Scotia.
Lucie was predeceased by her husband, John Daniel, daughter Gloria, parents Leo and Celina Deveau and 3 brothers; Dennie, Peter and Leo Deveau.
A Service of Remembrance was held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 3 pm in the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home, Chilliwack, with Major Angus Haggarty officiating.
The honourary bearers were: Bill Young, Trent Nunemaker, Al Davis, Dennis Rose, Denise Wells, Joyce Furness and Walter Nunemaker.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kishi, the doctors and staff of Chilliwack General Hospital Emergency Room, the staff of the 4th floor Palliative Care Unit and all the staff of the Extended Care Unit of Chilliwack General Hospital.
