Louis MARCHAND

Louis Paul Marchand passed away into the arms of God, with his family at his side, on November 27, 2002, at his home in Chilliwack, B.C. Louis was 77 years old. He was born on Dec 9, 1924, in Rosetown, S.K. to Aime and Yvonne Marchand. At the age of 17, Louis joined the Canadian Armed Forces to serve his country, until 1944. While stationed at Camp Iperwash, Ontario, he met and married Edna Milner on Dec. 1, 1945. That same year they returned to Saskatchewan to eventually settle on a farm. He was a hardworking grain farmer for many years, farming in the summer months and returning to Ontario in the winter where he was employed in different jobs and as a Pioneer Grain Buyer in later years. He spent many years playing baseball, curling, square dancing and was always there to be involved in the activities of his children, especially hockey. He had a wonderful music talent, playing the fiddle, banjo, mandolin, etc. In 1971 they moved to Chilliwack, B.C., where he worked at Dairyland Dairies until his retirement.

Louis thoroughly enjoyed his many hours of leisure on the golf course. Louis will be lovingly remembered by wife Edna; son, Barry (Linda) Marchand of Regina, S.K.; daughter, Dianne (Leo) Kienitz of Invermere, B.C.; four grandchildren, Shane (Erin) Kienitz of Calgary, A.B., Shawn Kienitz of Calgary, A.B. Cary Kienitz of Calgary, A.B. and Jamie Marchand of Regina, S.K.; one great grandchild, Austin Kooistra of Invermere, B.C.; seven sisters and six brothers, Rachel (Wymes) Dickson of Chilliwack, B.C., Clement Marchand of Westlaco, Texas, Aurore Scriven of Fort St. John, B.C., Maria (Clare) Blake of Chilliwack, B.C. Rosanna (Laurent) Mireau of Harris, S.K., Cecile (Julian) Paslawski of Saskatoon, Paul Marchand of Elrose, S.K., Nora (Ken) Kutz of Darien, Conn., Annette McDonald of Prince George, B.C., Emile (Carol) Marchand of Terrace, B.C., and Doreen (Nick) Medwid of Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by his mother, Yvonne in March of 1989, father, Aime, in February of 1991, his brother Deus in Nov. of 1991 and his brother George in Oct. of 1993. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, Dec 2, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chilliwack with Fr. Jack Diaz celebrating.

Cremation to follow. Memorial donations in memory of Louis may be sent to the charity of your choice.
