Lilace Chouinard passed away peacefully February 26th, 2010 in Chilliwack, BC. She was born Lilace Marion Lind in Merritt, BC on August 17th 1927. She trained and worked as a nurse at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.
She was predeceased by her mother Nancy and father Eric, husband Clarence and daughters Sheila and Catherine.
She is survived by daughters Barbara (James) Chouinard of Victoria, BC, Jocelyn Chouinard of Lunenburg, NS, Nancy (Lew) Chouinard of Ladner, BC, and son Michael (Karen) Chouinard of Saskatoon, SK.
Lilace was active in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and served on the hospital board. She loved to sing and dance, billet musicians for the local jazz fest, watch figure skating and play bridge. She had a big and generous heart, especially when it came to gifts for children, and she was no stranger to Chilliwack’s merchants.
The family wishes to thank the friends and neighbours that watched over her, including the people at the Birchwood and the Waverly.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
