Leone MARSHALL

January 6, 2003

Leone Marshall passed away peacefully at Eden Care Home on January 6, 2003. She was born December 15, 1912 in Chilliwack, and lived most of her life here as did her mother, Sarah Marshall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McCutcheon, early pioneers of Chilliwack.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home with Rev. Weldon Holland officiating.

Leone grew up in a musical family as her father Robert Marshall was the founder and leader of the historic Chilliwack Band. Leone was a gifted vocalist who enjoyed her life teaching voice and piano and being a soloist in local and Vancouver churches. She took part in musical events and was the regular soloist at funeral services at Henderson’s.

During the war years she served in the RCAF (W.D.) as a driver and later travelled with their entertainment corps. When Leone returned to Chilliwack her students came to her Spadina Ave. home, where they benefitted from her extended studies at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. Everyone enjoyed her delightful sense of humour.

She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Mrs. Myra McCammon and her brother-in-law Theo McCammon, the longtime mayor of Chilliwack.

She is survived by several cousins and their children; and many friends.

We would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Eden Care Home for their devoted care of Leone while she was their patient.
