Leonard Norman TAYLOR

Mr. Norman Leonard ‘Norm’ Taylor of Red Deer, passed away peacefully in his sleep, following a lengthy illness at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, April 24, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Norm was born on June 25, 1930 at Napan Bay, New Brunswick.

He served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 3 1?2 years and was involved with many roles during the span of his career and attained the rank of Captain, before his retirement.

Through his career and his work, Norm had the good fortune of seeing the World.

A traditional man, Norm raised his family with strong moral values and structure. He was a very honest man and a dignified gentleman, true to his word in every way. His family greatly loved and admired Norm for his honesty and integrity throughout his life. Norm embraced life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He loved his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed them immensely. Norm was a very outgoing and friendly person who loved helping out in the community. He very much enjoyed volunteering with Meals On Wheels, the Deer Park Community Association, was very proud of his involvement with the Reading Program at G.H. Dawe School and was honoured to receive an Award for his volunteer work with the Canadian Cancer Society.

In his younger years, Norm was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hockey, football and tending to his vegetable garden. He later replaced fishing with his new favourite sport, golfing.

Norm will be very sadly missed but his legacy and memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and dear friends. Norm leaves to mourn his loss, his three loving daughters, Sharon (Len) Read of Calgary, Alberta, Maureen Amaya (Mike Burnett) of Brush Prairie, Washington State and Shirley (Glenn) Welch of Red Deer, nine grandchildren, Michael, Gordie, Melinda, Andrea, Taylor, Anthony, Kevin, Lindsay and Chelsea and seven great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by two brothers, Harold (Kena) Taylor of Kitchener, Ontario and Ron (Carolyn) Taylor of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Norm was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elaine in 1999, a daughter, Laurie Cameron in 1996, a son, Leonard Taylor in 1999, three brothers and a sister.

A Public Celebration of Norm’s Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 – 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow, where Norm will be laid to rest with his wife, Elaine in the “Garden of Divinity” at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
