Leonard CARTMELL

February 14, 2007

Leonard Cartmell went to his heavenly home on February 14, 2007 surrounded by his family and the loving care of the nurses and staff at Cascade Lodge in Chilliwack. He has been a valiant soldier for the Lord and has now been promoted to glory. Leonard fought a long illness with dignity, courage and grace.

Leonard was a wonderful and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was a family man and will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Doris and daughters Audrey (Michael) Cheney, Joan (Art) Friesen and son Ron (Toni) Cartmell as well as seven grandchildren, Leanne, Thomas, Melanie, Adriane, Laura, Kyle and Andrew. He is survived by his brother, Barrie; sister, Marilyn and was predeceased by his brother Eric. Leonard will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Leonard was born in Chilliwack on November 10, 1930. He has spent his whole life in the Fraser Valley, farming, working in the logging camps on Harrison Lake and working for Finnings as a heavy-duty mechanic. Leonard was an active member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed driving the bus for the Sunday School and playing trombone in the band.

Since his retirement, he has been able to spend more time reading, working on his raspberry farm and traveling to visit family and friends. Len was happiest with his family around him and was a very proud father and grandfather. We have very special memories of family celebrations with our Dad.

Special thanks to Dr. Campbell and all the nurses and caregivers at Cascade Lodge for their compassionate care.

A service of celebration of Len’s life will be held at the Salvation Army Chilliwack Community Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007.

If friends desire, donations can be made to the Salvation Army overseas mission fund.
