April 28, 1945 – Aug. 4, 2009

Leona Ivy Taylor was born on April 28 1945 in Vancouver B.C. the fourth child of Norman and Jeane Capnerhurst. On May 19, 1962, she married Kenneth William Taylor at the Rosedale United Church.

Ken worked construction for several years and in 1968 they moved to Taylor B.C. with their two young children. Ken being employed in construction and oil patch work. In 1972 they began operating a Pacific 66 station for approximately 18 years, and a Super Save gas store in Merritt B.C. until retiring on Sept. 10, 2000. Leona enjoyed camping, curling, music and the casino. She was an excellent cook and family and friends were always welcome in her home. Her love for life showed in her smile and kind ways, but one of her greatest joys was her granddaughter Kailey.

With courage and dignity, she fought the cancer within her, sadly departing this life on August 4, 2009. Leona leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Ken, son Lorne, daughter Cheryl and granddaughter Kailey. Mother Jeane, sisters Yvonne, Norma, Carol. Brothers Wayne, Ken, Bryan and Kevin, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Norman and sister Lynne.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Ken, Cheryl and Lorne would like to express their gratefulness to all their family and friends that visited and communicated with Leona during her illness, with a special thanks to Connie Zuntie and Connie Spence who were by her side.
