It is with great sadness we announce the passing of

Laura Merson. She was born in Atchelitz on Jan 27, 1924 and passed away at Valley Haven at the age of 88.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick); her parents, Gross and Esther Gorham; brother, Weldon Gorham; and sisters: Bernice Armstrong, Ethel Cunningham, Elizabeth Kingswood and her son-in-law Harold Cross.

She is survived by her daughters: Judy (Bob) Stevenson, Gayle Cross, Bonnie (Frank) Reisig, Faye (Dennis) Koivula; grandchildren: Shelly (Graham) Grigg, Leanne Cross and Bill, Brad Stevenson, Jamie (Sandy) Reisig, Carmen (John) Williams, Travis (Alea) Koivula, Grant Koivula, and nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also by sisters-in-law Audrey (Bill) Woollett and Kathleen Standevan.

Laura married Dick in 1942 and settled in Rosedale where they raised their four daughters. They were married 60 years until his passing in 2002.

Laura was a member of the United Empire Loyalists and was an active member of the Royal Purple for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She loved to sew, knit and in later years her daily walk.

Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack.
