Kathleen MARTIN

Kathleen Martin passed away on March 18, 2005 in Grand Forks, B.C. She has joined her husband William Halldorson who passed away two months prior, on January 17, 2005.

Kay was born in a neighbour’s house in Viscount, Sask. on March 22, 1927. Her two older sisters, Mary and Betty, still recall how beautiful she was. Kay had two other sisters, Margaret who passed away on May 13, 1993 in Kelowna, B.C., and Anne. They all moved to B.C. with parents, John and Mary Heber.

As Kay grew up she spent several years in Chilliwack, picking hops over the summer. She had many fond memories of attending dances at CFB Chilliwack.

Kay married Leo martin, they had four children, Floyd, Deborah (Tom) Ralston, Nadine (Carl) Hird-Rutter, and Kenneth (Jeanette) Martin. They moved to Alberta where they opened a restaurant. Kay loved being in the kitchen and preparing food for any occasion.

In 1969 Kay moved, with the children to Aldergrove, B.C. and started life anew. She worked hard cooking in restaurants, care facilities, and at CFB Chilliwack. She married William Gilbert Halldorson in Langley. With the combined families they had 17 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. As the children grew up Kay and Bud retired to Midway, B.C.

They will both be missed but not forgotten.

A memorial will be held for both Kathleen and William on April 9, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. in the Mt. Shannon United Church, Rev. Art Henderson officiating.
