Joseph PENNIER

Joseph Pennier passed away on June 4, 2004 at Heritage Village, Chilliwack, BC at age 87 years. He was born on May 02, 1917 in Harrison Mills, BC.

Joe is survived by his children, Joan (Marvin) Wilbur, John (Vi), Butch (Jennifer), Judy (Ralph) Chapman, Leona (Ed Davis) Pennier-Hall and Yvonne Pennier; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

His wife, Margaret Jean Pennier, children, Yvonne, Leona, Ronald and Kenneth; parents, George and Alice Pennier (Nee Hall); grandparents, Joseph and Celestine Hall (nee Williams); brothers, Frank and Billy; sister, Matilda Peters; grandchildren, Jan Pennier, John Pennier, Charmaine Tenbos and Kenneth Pennier predeceased Joe.

Joseph Pennier was a member from Scowlitz first Nation. At a young age, he lived and was raised by his grandparents Joe and Celestine Hall. He was a hard working man that provided for his family at Canadian Forest at a very young age. He was a canoe puller for 6 paddle from Chehalis and Harrison River.

In his younger years, he played soccer for Sasquatch Inn Soccer Club and other teams from the Lower Mainland. He also coached a team called the Chehalis Golden Eagles who were undefeated in many tournaments throughout the area. He was very well known for his coaching ability.

A Viewing for family and friends was held on Monday, June 7, 2004 at the home of Ralph and Judy Chapman, House #105 Scowlitz Access Rd. Lake Errock, BC. Prayers began at 7 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Harrison Mills Community Hall at 10 am Tuesday, June 8, 2004. Interment at Scowlitz Cemetery, Lake Errock, BC, Father Gary Gordon celebrant. Pall Bearers are Lloyd Charlie, Brian Charlie, Russell Point, Ed Leon lll, Rod Leon and John Antone Sr.
