(Jack)

(April 5, 1924 - April 23, 2009)

Jack Kliever passed away on the 23rd of April 2009 at Bradley Centre in Chilliwack, British Columbia at the age of 85 years. He was born April 5, 1924 in Samara, Russia

Jack immigrated to Canada in October 1926 with his parents and sister Mary. They settled in Manitoba. In 1934 they took the C.P.R. across the rest of Canada to Agassiz. They eventually settled on a 10-acre farm in Yarrow where Lydia, Elsie and Vic were born.

Jack’s adult life was spent working in the Forest Industry. He started out as a flunky in the kitchen, then a Chaser and a Chokerman. He did every job there was to do. He worked in various camps in the Chehalis/Harrison area then over to Vancouver Island at Oyster Bay driving Cat for Ernie Mahood and in 1952 moved over to Powell River to do the same.

In 1967 he moved his family back to Chilliwack where he finished his working life at Chehalis and Spring Creek as a Woods Foreman for

Canadian Forest Products. In 1983 at 59 years old he retired. Retired life was good with a lot of traveling and enjoying grandchildren and quiet times at the cabin at Knouff Lake. We will all miss his spontaneous humour & quick wit.

Jack is survived by his wife Irene Kliever; daughter, Dianne Sharpe; sons: John Kliever and Dan Kliever; grandsons: Kurt Sharpe, Ernie Kliever and Craig Kliever; granddaughters: Laura Esau, Annie Kliever, Jenna Kliever and Amber Kliever; great-granddaughters: Audrey Esau and Daria Sharpe.
