John Herman Klassen passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford, at the age of 80 years. He was born February 25, 1922 in Donskoj, Samara, Russia.
John is survived by his loving wife Katie; son Ken (Viola), son Ervin (Kathi), daughter Marilyn (Dave) Doerksen, and daughter Adeline (Alex) Klassen; grandchildren, Dale (Theresa), Heather (Corry), Joel, Larissa, Kimberley, Sherinne, Shawn, Rachel, Jason, and Ian; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters.
He was predeceased by one brother Peter.
John was a farmer most of his life. He was also a very good carpenter, and helped build two of the churches the family attended. His family and church were very important to John.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 from 7-9 p.m., at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Chilliwack Cemeteries on Little Mountain. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. from Chilliwack Central MB Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd. in Chilliwack, Pastor Adam Wiggins officiating.
