(1931-2004)
John Akimitsu Kobayashi was born on March 18, 1931 in Stave Falls, B.C. He passed away after a short illness on October 29, 2004 at 73 years old. He is survived by his sons, Mike(Pat), Doug (Mindi) and Jeff (Jennifer); grandchildren, Steven, Allan (Fran), Mariko, Breagh and Brendan; and great-grandchildren, Annaca and Jordyn.
John was predeceased by his wife, Noriko, in 2003.
John served as a member with the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Armed Forces from 1949 to 1974. During his military career, he served in the Korean War. He also worked for the Federal Corrections of Canada, from 1974 to 1991. John had served this country and government for a total of 42 years.
John dedicated his entire life to provide a good life for his family. He was an avid sports fan of golf, football, hockey and baseball. His family and friends will remember him for his generosity and comradeship throughout the years. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever.
There will be no formal service as per his request. He is interned with his wife at Vedderview Cemetery in Sardis, B.C.
Upon his request, in lieu of flowers, any donation may be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.
