Jessie Smith passed away Oct. 21, 2008 in Prince George Regional Hospital. Jessie was born Nov. 28, 1913 in Vancouver, where she grew up in a family with seven brothers. Her mother died when Jessie was 19, so she had the responsibility of helping raise her younger brothers. She took office training, and worked in a series of offices in Vancouver as a secretary.

She met John (Jack) Smith, also of Vancouver, and they were married Sept. 6, 1941. They had three children; David, Allan, and Linda. Jack’s position with the CN Telegraphs took them to Woodcock, Prince Rupert, and Prince George, where they settled and raised their family. Jessie worked at the Bay and with the Ministry of Agriculture. After retirement, they moved to Chilliwack and spent many happy years travelling, socializing with their friends, and watching their grandchildren grow up. After Jack passed away, Jessie moved to the Lynnwood home in Chilliwack, making new friends and thoroughly enjoying her time there. She moved to Prince George where her daughter Linda lives, to be able to receive the more involved care she required.

Jessie was predeceased by her son Allan in 1957, and Jack in 1994. She leaves behind many friends and her immediate and extended family which loved her deeply and misses her greatly; son David Smith (Diane), daughter Linda Campbell (Brian), grandchildren Michael, Lindsey, Kelly, and Clark.

Jessie brought laughter and joy to all who knew her, and although she is gone her memory brings a smile and warm feelings that will last forever.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 pm on Nov. 22, 2008 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 46048 Gore Ave., Chilliwack, BC.

A reception will be held in the church hall after the service.
