Jean Stella Merson passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at Chilliwack Hospital at age 86 years. She was born May 6, 1923.
Jean is survived by daughters, Marlene (Hank) Witzke, Jackie (Dennis) Reade-Slater, and son Robert Merson; six grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by father, Ray Jinkerson, mother, Edna Aird; stepfather Arthur Aird; husband Jack Merson, and great-grandson Lucas Bunbury.
Jean was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, caregiver, and friend. She will be missed by all in many different ways. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff on both ends of the 5th floor of Chilliwack Hospital for the care, patience, support, smiles and good sense of humour.
An open graveside service will be held at Carman United Church Cemetery, 46110 Promontory Road, Chilliwack, BC, at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2009. On open house will follow at 9274 Coote Street. Memorial Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. No flowers please. Although Jean loved flowers she preferred to see them growing. So plant something in Jean’s memory instead, a tree, a shrub, a plant or a seed.
