Jan Dirk (John) Goor passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2004 at age 83 years. John was born May 22, 1921 in Luntern, the Netherlands.
He immigrated to Canada arriving in Halifax with his wife Hilligje (Hilda) and son Hendrik (Hank). After a short time in Alberta, the family moved to Chilliwack where John worked in the logging industry, construction and cement work. John began dairy farming in 1969 after which he and his wife retired to a hobby farm, which they enjoyed for 13 years before settling in their current home in Sardis.
John will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years Hilligje (Molenaar); son, Hendrik (Diane); grandchildren, Randy, Melissa and Vanessa as well as sisters, Willimina and Riek (of Holland) and brothers, Jacob, Jacobus (of Holland) and Jake (of Ontario).
He is predeceased by his mother, father, step- mother, eight brothers and one sister.

Funeral Services will be held at the Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation, 8920 Broadway Ave., Chilliwack, BC on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004 at 1:30 pm. Condolences will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 from 7:30-9 pm at Woodlawn Mt Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
