James Ward Allen

Jim passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 76. He was born December 8, 1930 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Jim will be sadly missed by Peggy, his wife of 51 years, his daughters Dawna (Ernie) Mothus, Candace (Don) Clothier, grandchildren Tanya (Shawn) Harnett, Jeremy (Amber) Mothus, Jonathan (Andrea Sladek) Mothus, Tanner Clothier, Braden Clothier, great-grandchildren Sienna Mothus, Connor Harnett, Meadow Mothus, Madison Harnett and Lincoln Mothus; brother Gilbert (Dorothy) Allen, sisters Barabara Cooper, Pat (George) Mansfield, and many neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Hantz and Carol Allen and sister Eleanor Kempton. Jim was the eldest of five children who were raised in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. He joined the Merchant Navy in 1948 and in 1952 joined the Armed Forces and pusued a career as a Royal Canadian Engineer. This was a thirty year long career which saw him serving both in Canada and overseas. He retired in 1982 at the rank of MWOII. Jim loved fishing and hunting with his friends and over the years dabbled in gardening and woodworking. Jim left behind many dear friends, both old and new, who will miss his company and friendship.

“A Celebration of Life” will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 1:00pm, Vedder Royal Canadian Legion, Padre Fred Tassinari officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory, may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 280, Poppy Fund.
