James “Ross” JESS

March 24, 2006

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James “Ross” Jess in the presence of his loving family on March 24, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Ross was born in Vancouver, B.C. on June 6, 1932.

Ross moved at the age of four with his family to Chilliwack where Ross spent his childhood years. He married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Bathgate, in 1955 and worked as an electrician for Dickie’s Electric for 10 years. The boom of 1966 brought Ross and his family to Prince George where he worked and raised a family for 20 years before returning to Chilliwack and retiring. Ross had many talents far too numerous to recount but he felt his greatest accomplishment was his wonderful family.

Ross is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley (Bathgate), his daughters; Teresa (Dale) Girling of Prince George, Cheryl Darling of North Vancouver, Karen Jess of Chilliwack, Rosalinde Jess of Chilliwack. His sisters; Lorraine (Jack) Lock of Chilliwack, Verna Hansen of White Rock, grandchildren; Jennifer (Jeremy) Ryan of Prince George, Allesha (Alex) Dodorico of Prince George, Adam Darling of North Vancouver, James Darling of North Vancouver; great grandchildren; Kaitlynn of Prince George, his “two boys” Wally and Rocky and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Ross was predeceased by his mom and dad Edith and Alex Jess, his sister Bev Laurie.

Thanks to all the nurses of NU4 and especially Jackie, Bev, Debbie D and Karen. Also the many fabulous doctors who helped dad on his journey home.

Ross touched many lives. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. There will be no service by request. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

“Here’s a twenty for the Road, Dad, Till we see you in heaven”
