James Pettis MICHELL

James Pettis Michell passed away on June 24, 2002 at Yale (Bell Crossing), at the age of 54 years. He was born in Mission.


James is survived by his son Stanley; daughter Kassandra; the mother of his children, Sue; father Moody; brothers, David (Laurie), Robbie (Gayla), Gerry (Billie Jo), and Phillip (Gail); sisters, Linda (Mitch), Debra (Daryl), Gloria (Bob), Pam (Carol), Yvette (Reggie), and April; also many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.


He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Ida and James Pettis; paternal grandparents, Theresa and Stanley Michell; mother Patricia Michell; brothers, Gary and Jonathan; and niece Sherri.


James was a logger for 30 years in Canada and the USA. He was a busy man, always keeping on the move, working, fishing, picking berries, and gathering roots. A humble man who valued family, he let his heart move him to different cities to be with family members.


Prayers were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Seabird Island Community Hall. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2002 at Immaculate Conception Church, Seabird Island, Father Gerry Guillet, Celebrant.


Honourary pallbearers are Peter George, Floyd Herrling, Joey Pettis, Patricia Michell, Carol Pettis, and Dora Louis. Active pallbearers are Gerry Giroux, Mitch Florence, Kevin Garner, Duane Garner, Xavier Williams Sr., and Harvey McPhetis. Cremation will follow the service with scattering of the ashes to be held at a later date.
