James Arnold Switzer passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 73 years. Jim was born to Frank and Bessie Switzer in Ottawa. Jim lived briefly in Calgary, Vancouver and Fort St. John before settling in Dawson Creek in 1952. Here he met and married Shirley Rissling in 1956. In 1973, Jim transferred within Finning Tractor to Chilliwack. Family and friends were the most important things in his life.

Jim is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend, Shirley; daughter, Julie Dyck; sons, Jim (Anita), Frank (Tina), Dale, and Chris (Robin); Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert (Juli) Dyck, their daughter Sophie; Jenny Dyck and son Sebastian; Tara (Chris) Johnston and daughter Chloe; Steve (Jackie) Switzer and daughters, Mikayla and Kylie; Emma and William Switzer, Gibson, Cecily and Finley Switzer and Shaylene and Lucas Switzer. Jim is also remembered by his brothers, Don, Stu, Erle, Bruce and Wayne; sisters, Morna and Audrey; brothers in law, Jim (Annabelle) Rissling and John (Marianne) Rissling and his sister in law, Diane (Ed) Regnier.

An open house for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 between 1-3 at the family home in Chilliwack.

Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s name to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, 938 West 28th Ave. Vancouver, BC V5Z 4H4.
