Jack Horace TALBOT

June 26, 2003

Born Jan. 17, 1926 in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England. Son of Horace and Anne (Berry). Passed away June 26, 2003 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver.

Survived by wife June (Reid); daughter, Linda; sons, Ian (wife Barb Downman), Gordon (wife Janice (Nelson); grandsons, Graham and Nelson; sister, Anne Middleton and her family of Morley, Yorkshire, England.

Jack grew up in the Wakefield area of Yorkshire. He served in the Royal Navy and after the war, he moved to Blackpool, England. In April 1954, he emigrated and worked his way across Canada. In late December of 1945, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Edmonton.

After basic training, his first posting was to Whitehorse where he met and married June (Reid). Jack was then posted to Langar, England near Nottingham where daughter Linda, and son Ian, were born.

The next posting was Cold Lake, Alberta where son, Gordon, was born. There he remustered to the refrigeration and air conditioning trade. After Cold Lake, he was posted to Ottawa, Mont Apica Quebec, Penhold Alberta and Chilliwack, BC.

Jack retired from the Canadian Armed Forced in 1974 and continued to work as a refrigeration technician in Chilliwack and for the Ontario Pavilion during Expo ’86 in Vancouver. His last working years were spent at CFB Chilliwack as a civiliam refrigeration technician.

A memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Chapel at 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, BC at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2003.
