Jack Ernest “Pops” Harrop passed away in Chilliwack on May 18, 2006 at the age of 86 years. He was born in St. Laurent, Manitoba on June 7, 1919.
Jack went to school in Armstrong and served overseas in WWII 1940 – 1945. He was a Member of Branch #4 Royal Canadian Legion. On Dec. 26, 1946 Jack married Mary Jardine and worked at Burgess Feeds for 37 years and retired in 1984. He was a member of the Chilliwack Curling Club.
Jack is survived by his daughter Loretta (John) Kiniskey of Chilliwack, son, Jack (Linda) Harrop of Chilliwack, grandchildren; Angela (Brian) Erickson, Amanda, Cassandra, Melanie, Tessa Harrop and great grandchild Cadence Erickson. He is also survived by his brother Art (Marie) Harrop of Kelowna and two sisters; Irene and Daisy of Vernon, sister-in-law Mazie Jardine of Chilliwack and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1987, his brother Don and sisters Nellie, Betty and Grace.
Services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1:00 pm from the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home with Major Angus Haggarty officiating. Donations may be made in Jack’s name to the Chilliwack Hospice Society for Hospice House.
