(May 12, 1948 – June 24, 2007)
Sadly on June 24, 2007 in Chilliwack, B.C. after a courageous battle with cancer, Linda passed away peacefully and with dignity.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother Irene DeGrave and her father Julian DeGrave (Anna). She will be greatly missed by her sister Lorraine (John) and her brothers Marcel, Julian (Glenda), Robert (Beverley), Lawrence (Tracy) and Raymond (Diane) and step-sister Chrissy (Ryan) and step-brother Steve. Also left to mourn her passing are 13 nieces and nephews and nine grand-nieces and nephews. Linda had many special friends, too numerous to mention.
After graduating from Sisler High School, Winnipeg, she embarked on a financial career in Vancouver, B.C., Ontario, California and Phoenix, Arizona. In Phoenix she joined Lincoln Properties where she was employed for more than 20 years. She had a passion for customer relations and made many long lasting friends, both personally and professionally.
Linda had a gift for making her own greeting cards, which were a work of art and will always be cherished by all recipients. She never missed sending her cards to family and friends for all occassions. Anyone who received her cards knew to open them “slowly”. She also had a love for “reindeer”. Every family member has a collection of reindeer, small and large, that were Christmas gifts received from her over the years.
Linda never had any children of her own. Besides her nieces and nephews, she had Casey and Charlie, her two Schnauzers, who meant the world to her.
Linda looked forward to her annual visits with mom, relatives and friends from Canada. She welcomed everyone with open arms and she treated everyone to “Phoenix Coyotes” hockey games.
Linda returned to Canada in October 2005 to be closer to family and resided with her brother Lawrence and his wife Tracy in Chilliwack, B.C. until her passing. Special thanks go to both Lawrence and Tracy for their unconditional love and care.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Cascade Lodge for the exceptional care they provided for Linda; to Dorothy, Linda’s volunteer and friend who spent many hours caring for and assisting Linda with her greeting cards; and finally to Val from the Fraser Valley Health Palliative Care Home Support for taking extra special care of Linda.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Linda to Canadian Cancer Society – Manitoba Division – 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Maintoba R3C 9Z9. “Love you guys,” “Love you bunches”.
