Hilma HOLLAND

(May 14, 1938 – Feb. 8, 2009)

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Hilma Holland.

Hilma was born May 14, 1938 in Alt-Alexandrowkie in the Ukraine of Russia to Eduard and Ottilie Liske, they were blessed with two children.

Hilma and her mother immigrated to Chilliwack B.C. on December 18, 1950. Upon immigrating to B.C., Ottilie met her second husband Michael Prochnau and were married in 1951. Michael had two previous sons, Harold (Liz) and Alfred (Olga).

Hilma was predeceased by her father Eduard, 1940 and step-father Michael, 1962; her husband George Holland 1992; brother Eduard 1998; and mother Ottilie 2003.

Hilma married George Holland on Noveber 18, 1955. They had three children: Troy-ann Ellis (Clayton Moen), Michael Holland and Mark Holland. Hilma had four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren, Shannon (Rob) Smoker, Shyanne, Magen; Theresa (Ray) Vinje, Olivia, Rachel; Melissa (Kevin) Upton, Tyler; Amanda (Mike) vandenBrink, Calvin, Nicole.

Hilma enjoyed gardening, Bingo, going for walks and lunch outings with her girlfriends. Hilma also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flower, donations may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.

Coffee and Tea will be served following the service in the Henderson’s Tea Room.
