Henry SUDERMAN

(Nov. 13, 1911 – Oct. 17, 2007)

Henry passed peacefully, into the arms of the Lord at Eden Care Home in Chilliwack.

Survived by Margaret his loving wife of 68 years. Also survived by his devoted children, Monica (Brian) Green, Hank (Virginia), Bev (David) Masurat, and grandchildren Colin (Char) Green, Colleen DeBodt, Nicole Suderman and Celeste Suderman and Great Granddaughter Katelyn DeBodt, as well as a large extended family.

Henry was born in Southern Russia in 1911 and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1924 and settled in Oakville, Manitoba, were he farmed with his family. Henry and his sisters Mary and Pat moved to British Columbia in 1936 and settled in the Sardis area.

At the age of 16, Henry accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour, and continued to follow the Lord’s leading throughout his life. He was an excellent example to his children and grandchildren.

In 1941, Henry started in the logging industry, where he worked as a “grease monkey” and was promoted to driving logging trucks a short time afterward. Henry continued driving, either logging or freight truck until 1954. From 1954 until 1970, Henry farmed in the Camp River and Rosedale areas. In 1970 the family sold the farm and moved into Chilliwack where Henry drove school bus until he retired in 1981.

Throughout his life he liked to stay active. He enjoyed golf for many years, walking, RVing, and exercising at the YMCA, where at the age of 90 he was awarded a life time membership.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eden Care Home for the loving and compassionate care they gave Henry over the years.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Transport for Christ would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements in care of McLean’s Funeral Services Ltd.
