Nov. 27, 1931 - May 18, 2012.

It is with great sorrow and sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Henry Joe Hryciw.

He is survived by his Wife of 56 years, Margaret (Etta); children, Brian (Wendy), Deborah and Barry (Stacey); seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Jamie), Blake (Stephanie), Kaylin, Kathryn, Jordyn, Camryn and Brody; siblings, Walter (Joan), Jeanette (Victor), and Nester (Myrtle). Henry was a member of the RCMP, retiring with 25 years of service, his last posting being Chilliwack City. He then worked for the Ministry of Human Resources as a Welfare Fraud Investigator for 19 years before retiring in 1995. Henry was also a member of the Masonic Hall since 1965.

Henry enjoyed life and all the joys and accomplishments that came with it. His passions included fishing, hunting, camping, and numerous hobbies. He loved creating keepsakes for all his family and friends. His caring and helpful nature made him a great friend to those who knew him. Above all, his greatest pride and joy was his family. Whether it was time spent creating beautiful memories, or sharing in the successes of those closest to him, Henry was full of encouragement and support. He will always be admired and remembered by all who knew him and will continue to inspire and guide us through life’s challenges that we will face in days to come.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the nursing and medical staff at the Chilliwack General Hospital, for the amazing care and attention that was provided during his stay. We will be forever grateful for your tireless compassion.

A service in Henry’s honour will be held Saturday, May 26th, at 3:00 pm at the Chilliwack United Church, located at 45835 Spadina Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Chilliwack United Memorial Fund.
