Helena HONEY

Helena Honey (nee Janzen) passed away peacefully on June 21, 2002 in Squamish. Helena was born to Anna and Abram Janzen October 14, 1914 at home in Main Center, Sask.


She married Lyle Honey in 1933, and lived in Didsbury, Alta. until moving to Comox during the Second World War. They then moved to Cloverdale and farmed five acres raising vegetables.


She was predeceased by her husband Lyle in Cloverdale, in March of 1971; grandson Nathan McArthur in July of 1982; and son-in-law Art Redekop in December of 1998.


Helena then moved to Chilliwack and lived there for 29 years until recently moving to Squamish.


Helena was the second last of 11 children and was the last surviving sibling.


She is survived by her nine children, Meryn (Eileen) of Squamish, Arlene (Jim) McArthur, Arnold (Laureen), Elvira (Art) Redekop, Delbert (Faye), Marilyn (Jim) Chamberlain, Ron (Jean), Leila (Don) McLaren, and Larry (Cindy); 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.


Funeral service will be held at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Chilliwack. For day and time of service, please contact the Squamish Funeral Chapel at 1-800-661-5121. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14644-72nd Ave., Surrey.
