Helen (Ada) BARCLAY

On Monday, December 3, 2007, at 11:00 pm at Langley Memorial Hosptial, (Ada) Helen Barclay passed away into the presence of her Lord. She was born December 31, 1922 in Newdale, MB.

Her family came to Winnipeg and she began attending Calvary Temple where, as a teen, she accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour.

She met her beloved husband, Richard, and they married August 28, 1942. They moved to the East Coast while Richard served in the Forces for three years. Afterwards, they came back to Winnipeg to attend Western Bible College. When Richard finished his courses they began their ministry with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (P.A.O.C) which continued for over 50 years.

They pastored in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and N.W. Ontario for many years. She served as executive secretary at the MB & NW ON P.A.O.C. District Office until 1987, when she retired.

She continued to serve with Richard in his role as Seniors’ Pastor at Evangel Chapel, Winnipeg. In 1998, she moved to Langley and served with the Visitation Team at Christian Life Assembly in Langley.

In December of 2005 Helen moved into The Cascades Assisted Living in Chilliwack, BC., where she continued to share her love for her Lord with friends and neighbours. She organized a weekly Bible study at The Cascades, led by Pastor Elmer Martin of First Ave Assembly in Chilliwack.

Her favorite scriptures are 3 John vs. 4, John 14:6, and Acts 17:28. Her life verse was “The Joy of the Lord is my strength.”

Helen’s joy and love for her Lord was shared freely with all who met and knew her. Her faithfulness in praying for her family and others will always be remembered with thankfulness.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard, and her two brothers, George and Wilfred.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Doug (Addie) of Winnipeg, Ruth (Ed) Link of Abbotsford, John (Kathy) of Peterborough, Laura (Ted) Franckiewicz of Chilliwack and their families. She is also survived by her brother Ron (Mavis) Wood and sister-in-law Marg Wood both of Winnipeg area, and many nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service celebrat–ing Helen’s life will be held Monday, December 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Christian Life Assembly, 21277 56th Ave., Langley.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Living Memorial Fund for the Pentecostal Theological College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, through the Missions Dept., P.A.O.C., 2450 Milltower Crt., Missisauga, On. L5N 5Z6

Special thank you to Dr. Kenneth Ng and Dr. Rita Wittman of Langley and especially Dr. James Stopforth of Chilliwack who all provided such wonderful care for Mom. Thank you also to the staff of Cascades Assisted Living in Chilliwack who helped make Mom’s last years so much more comfortable.
