We’re very sorry to say that Hazel left us on September 24th at the Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 84. She was one of 8 children born to Herman and Myrtle Smith of Summerberry, Sask. In 1947 she married Perry Stack and together they enjoyed a long and happy marriage and had two children. They moved to Vancouver in 1951 and later settled in Chilliwack.
Hazel had many skills, interests and endearing qualities. She enjoyed doing several forms of needlework; she was adventurous in the kitchen, always keen to try new recipes; she loved flowers and was proud of her success in growing orchids; she was a kind, patient and caring person who always put other people’s troubles ahead of her own.
She is sadly missed by Perry, her devoted husband of 62 years; her children Bob and Linda and their spouses Marilyn and Tony; her grandchildren Jeff and Tracie; her great-grandchildren Lauren, Kevin, Vicky and Emma; and her sister Joyce. There are a great many other people – family and friends near and far – who loved and admired her, and are deeply saddened by her loss.
We have honoured Hazel’s wish for a simple cremation with no service of any kind. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
