Harold Richard REDDING

June 9, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Richard Redding announce his passing on June 9, 2009 at the age of 80. He passed away peacefully at Cascades Hospice, Chilliwack, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Ellen, daughter, Karin, sons, Ken and Craig, son-in-law Andy, daughter in-law Cheryl and grandchildren, Alex and Karyn. He is also survived by his brother Ron Redding and his wife Doreen. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Helen Redding, daughter Carol Anne and sister Noreen. Harold was born February 14, 1929 in Kenora, Ontario. He was a career civil servant with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources for 37 years. Rather than retire, from 1984-1987, he took on the challenge of working as a technical consultant for the Jiagedaqi Model Forest Fire Management project in the People’s Republic of China.

Harold and his wife Ellen moved to British Columbia in 1989. He settled into retirement that involved a lot of travel, carving, bicycle riding and spending time with his many friends and family members. He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at the Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church, Chilliwack, on July 5, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
