Gwen Floyd passed quietly in her sleep on the night of April 29, 2012, at age 95.

She was born in Brentford, Middlesex, England, the only daughter of Edward and Agnes Salter (nee Joyce).

She married Harold (Harry) William Floyd at the beginning of WWII on Nov. 30, 1939 at Brentford, when she was the age of 22.

Gwen and her family immigrated to Canada in April 1959, originally settling in Kelowna. After the premature death of Harry in 1966, Gwen and her boys moved to Chilliwack.

She was a devoted mother and enjoyed getting together with friends for outings. She was also a big supporter of the local performing arts.

Gwen was also predeceased by her brothers, Ted, Reg, Den and Sid.

She is survived by her sons Roger Floyd and Nigel Floyd (Melody Jestin) of Chilliwack, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews in Wales, Scotland, England, Spain, and Australia.

The family would like to express thanks to the nurses and care aides at Chilliwack General Hospital and the Bradley Centre for their kind and gentle care of Gwen.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 7, at 3:30 pm at the chapel of the Salvation Army on Brooks Ave., Chilliwack. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Salvation Army or the Canadian Red Cross.
