Gloria Theresa ANDERSON (nee Bennett)

July 2, 2004

Nov. 15, 1928 - July 2, 2004

(Formerly of Cole Harbour,

Halifax, Nova Scotia)

With the sadness and feeling of loss that accompanies an earthly death, but with the happiness of knowing a rebirth into the arms of Jesus in paradise, the family wishes to announce the passing on of this beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the Chilliwack General Hospital, Chilliwack, B.C. on July 2, 2004.

Gloria grew up in Halifax, N.S. She was one of nine children raised by Michael and Florence Bennett (both predeceased).

Gloria is survived by her soulmate of 58 years, Hendrick (Harry/Andy) Edward Anderson of Chilliwack.

Gloria and Harry raised five children and saw their families grow through the years, to a total of 18 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The grandchildren family tree is an extension of: Gloria Carpenter of Kincardine, Ont., and her children, Jeff, Scott and Renata; Harry Anderson of Kentville, N.S. and his children, Neil and Gillian; Gregory and Joanne Anderson of Edmonton, Alta. and their children, Willie and Gregory; Michael and Debbie Anderson of Edmonton, Alta. and their children, Gereen, Jodi, Shawn, Robert, Clinton, Neil and Timothy; Stephanie and Bud Casey of Chilliwack and their children, Heather, Jennifer (Trinity) Melanson, Derrick and Kevin. Her life will continue through her family.

Gloria also leaves to mourn her loss, four sisters, Joan Landreault of Cape Breton, Florence Cooper of Ontario, Nancy (Jack) Fraser of Ontario, and Sylvia (Dave) Stewart of Nova Scotia. Gloria also leaves to mourn her loss, her dear friend and caregiver of many years, Phyllis Thompson of Porter’s Lake, Halifax, N.S. Thank you for your caring and kindness, Phyllis.

Gloria lived with many adverse medical conditions that created pain and suffering that would challenge her continuously. This was a result of a benign brain tumor in 1958 and a hit and run drunk driver in 1977. Gloria endured through these life experiences and the pain and suffering that accompanied them. She never complained. She held onto her faith in God, and with the love and support of her life partner Harry, she lived to see the results of her life’s work grow into a large, loving family. Gloria sought employment outside the home in the 70s and enjoyed a 14 year career with Canada Post. In spring 2004, Harry and Gloria moved to Chilliwack, to be nearer to family members and to accommodate their special needs. Gloria was happy with the move and shared the excitement of the new adventure along with the melancholy feelings that were directed towards her place of birth, Halifax, N.S.

A memorial service was conducted at Watson Road Bible Chapel, Chilliwack on July 3, 2004, and the service was officiated by church elder Mr. Derrick (Bud) Casey (son-in-law) and her son, Michael. Cremation has taken place and interment is to follow in a family plot located at Vedder View Veterans Cemetery, Chilliwack, B.C.

Go onward my love, my Iron Lady, to the place where pain and suffering is no more, into the arms of Jesus. He will lead you home. Until we meet again, your loving husband, Harry.
