Gladys GRANT (nee Sturgess)

January 26, 2005

Gladys Grant, age 85, passed away on January 26th at Chilliwack General Hospital when she succumbed to pancreatic cancer. She was born on January 9, 1920 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Gladys is survived by five children: Ken (Vicki), Linda (Walt) Drage, Jack (Lisa), Roger (Juanita), Gary, nine grandchildren: Tracey (Mike), Koryn (Doug), Tannis (Senad), Shaina, Rechelle, Robert, Allix, Holly, and Alex, one great-granddaughter: Laura. Trish and MaryAnne were also special "daughters".

She was predeceased by her father Harry, mother, Blanche and brother Norman Sturgess.

Despite the many hurdles presented to her in life, she was a woman of great spirit, courage, generosity and determination who possessed an unconditional love for her children. She had a great sense of humour, made an awesome yorkshire pudding, enjoyed a good mystery, and most of all, loved cats.

She was very appreciative of the Home Support staff and, with their ongoing assistance, was able to remain in her home when her health deteriorated. The staff at The Lynnwood were like family and she enjoyed living there.

The family wishes to sincerely thank Drs. Bartel, Richmond, Schopf, Wiggins and Lim for the medical care provided to Gladys in the last hours of her life. The Nursing care in Emergency, Nursing Unit 3, OR and PACU was incredible and we thank you so much.

Gladys requested that there not be a funeral service; however there will be a private family memorial. Should you wish to make a donation in Gladys' memory, Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven, 49843 Chilliwack Central Rd., Chilliwack, V2P 6H3 would be the charity of choice.
