(nee Folliet)

(Aug. 7, 1927 - Jan. 13, 2008)

Gilberte entered God’s loving arms peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the age of 80 years.

Gilberte (known by family and friends as “Gibby” or “Gil”), was born on August 7, 1927 in Duck Lake, SK to Eugene and Louise Folliet and was the sixth child of 10.

She is survived by her sisters, Juliette (Clement) Perret, of Duck Lake, SK; Jean (Glyn) Johnson, of Terrace BC; and brother, Frank (Edy) Folliet of Salmon Arm, BC. Gilberte was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Philippe Dussault, brothers Victor, Joseph, Amedée and Louis; sisters, Marie and Solange.

Gilberte is survived by her blended family of 11 children that were the light of her life – Bob Delisle, Bob Dussault, Jeannine MacDonald, Len Delisle, Bert Delisle, Evelyn English, Janet Jeans, Ray Dussault, Lorraine Kress, Annette Resler and Patricia Vandersanden and their spouses. Gil is also survived by 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Gilberte was a kind and gentle soul; loving, giving and always put others before herself. She was famous for her homemade bread, soups, jams and her “must go” dinners. Her family remembers the treat of “rilles” from her kitchen.

Gil was very artistic and resourceful beyond compare! Her homemade creations were always a hit at the Chilliwack Fair, earning many winning ribbons. Gilberte also loved to garden and go for long walks along the river, hand in hand with her Phil.

Gil and Phil traveled across Canada visiting friends and loved ones, getting acquainted with every member of their new extended family! Their trek united many, and created lifelong friendships between families that may otherwise have never met. Gil’s outgoing personality and joie de vivre was contagious as she injected a fun spirit into every occasion.

Gilberte was a faithful, and faith-filled individual who lived a life of hard work, integrity and honesty – traits she instilled in those she loved.

Funeral services for Gilberte will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack BC.

Prayers on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at 7:00 pm; funeral mass on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at 10:30 am.
