Gertie Hooyenga, longtime resident of Yarrow and Chilliwack passed away peacefully in the Chilliwack General Hospital on August 29th, 2005 at the age of 82. She was born October 23, 1923 in Friesland, Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1948.
She is predeceased by her oldest daughter, Allie Souter and she will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters: Lucy (Aeron)Jansen; Aukie (Jim) Rappel; Linda (Bruce) Gamble; Julie (Jim) Zahara and only son, John Hooyenga; grandchildren: Bruce, Darrel, Arlene, Troy, Cindy, Shawn, Jamie, Darin, Shane, Travis, Stephanie, Andrew, Nicole, Michael, Kent, Braydon, Jace; great-grandchildren: Megan, Jennifer, Heather, Joel, Carley, Caelyn, Charlie, Jack, Saige and Milan.
Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Officiant Pastor John Gray. Interment at Chilliwack Cemeteries.
The family wish to express their gratitude to the nursing staff on the 4th Floor of the Chilliwack General Hospital for their care and support.
