Gerald Bertram PERRY

November 19, 2004

Gerald Bertram Perry passed away in Chilliwack General Hospital on November 19, 2004. He was born in Lloydminster, Sask. on June 18, 1927.

He was the only child of Joe and Elsie Perry, who farmed northwest of the city in Alberta. Times were hard until the family moved to Vedder Crossing in 1942 where they farmed on Keith Wilson Rd.

In 1953 he married Phyllis Sexsmith, and had two children, Michele and Brent. Gerald worked for Dairyland for 35 years. In his spare time he loved to work with young people. He managed a youth boxing club in the 1960s, coached minor hockey in the ‘70s, and played Oldtimers hockey. He also loved fishing, and took many youngsters water skiing on Cultus Lake. Gerald and Nancy met when square dancing, and were married in 1980. Golf was something he enjoyed, and he played frequently until his legs gave out.

Gerald is survived by his loving family, wife Nancy; daughter Michele; son Brent (Launa); grandchildren, Devon, Dayna, Amber, Rhea, Jesse and Kaira; stepchildren, Paul, Wendy (Richard), and Colin (Leanna); and step-grandchildren, Brendan and Quinna.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joe and Elsie.

Gerald’s warm, caring, fun-loving nature will be missed by all who loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2004 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 45560 Watson Rd., Sardis at 2:30 p.m., followed by refreshments. Friends and family welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pacific Open Heart Association.
