George Edward Anderson was born in Vancouver BC, to William and Lydia Anderson, with one brother Stan. As a young man George worked as a lifeguard, ensuring the safety of many on the shores of Vancouver. Soon after he enlisted with the Merchant Navy serving his country overseas druing WWII. After the war ended George married Esther Dixon and together they raised Wendy, Rick, Eddie, Stuart and Dori in North Vancouver.
An outdoorsman who loved riding horses and hunting, George moved to his beloved Chilliwack River Valley in the late 60’s. Here he met and in 1981 married Sylvia Lambert and together they raised Rebbi, Gordon, Robert, David and Don. George is survived by his 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. George is pre-deceased by his mother, Lydia Anderson; father, William Anderson; first wife, Esther Dixon; daughter, Elaine Anderson; and son-in-law, Bob Boles.
George will always be remembered as a man with a compassionate heart, strength and courage. His final words were spoken of love and family as he passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on October 7, 2008.
