Geoffrey Norman FRANCE

September 6, 2004

Geoffrey Norman France passed away September 6, 2004 at Chilliwack General Hospital. Geof was born December 6, 1918 in Hudderfields, England. Moving to Canada at the age of 4, Geof grew up in the Fraser Valley.

In the Second World War Geof served overseas in the RCAF for 4 years.

Following his return to Canada he started his new life with his wife Frona. They shared a marriage together for 59 years. Geof held various jobs after the war.

He served on the Chilliwack Volunteer Fire Dept. for 22 years and retired from SD#33 as a Bus Driver.

Geof was a private, gentle man who spent some of his favorite times fishing, camping and in his workshop with his immediate family close by. He was always there for anyone that asked for his help.

The last few years dealt Geof many undeserved health problems that he handled with great dignity while never complaining.

Geof will be deeply missed by his wife, Frona; daughters, Wendy and Joanne (Terry). He was a wonderful grandfather to Carrie, Kevin and Amanda. Geof is also survived by his sister, Betty (Jack) Merchant of Vancouver, numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Geof was predeceased by his two sons and both his parents.

At Geof’s request, there will be no funeral service, he didn’t want a fuss! A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to make donations in Geof’s name can do so to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“Death and love are two wings

That bear the good man to heaven.”
