Frieda MILLER

Frieda Miller passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at Chilliwack General Hospital in her 77th year, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Frieda was born in Romania on August 24, 1924, to Fred and Emilia Pahl. She came to Canada as a child and settled in Hanna, Alberta. Her family eventually moved to the Chilliwack area, where Frieda would live the rest of her life. She spent many years working on the family farm, which included building the barn that is still standing at the Cannor Nursery location.


Frieda married Oscar Miller on February 7, 1947. She worked hard raising five children and working on the farm. She was an avid gardener, and very involved with the Evangelical Missionary Church. Frieda was also a T.O.P.S. member for over 25 years. After retiring, Oscar and Frieda moved to the Lynnwood, where they made many dear friends. Frieda will be fondly remembered by her family and friends, including her loving husband of 55 years. Oscar; five children, Shirley (William) Davis, Doreen (Carl) Norum, Dan (Shirleyanne) Miller, Elaine (Dave) Ellis and Marilyn (Martin) McGrath; grandchildren, Will (Shanda) Davis, Clara (Greg) Hooper, Raymond Norum, Roy (Karen) Norum, Russell Norum, Carie Purdy, Shaun Miller, Taylor Miller, Mitchell Ellis, Jay Ellis, Richard McGrath, Dayna McGrath and Amanda McGrath; four great grandchildren; siblings, Fred (Viola) Pahl, Olga (Jim) McKinstry, Emma (Al) Effa, Art (Anne) Pahl and Ed (Judy) Pahl. She was predeceased by her sister, Alma Speidel, her parents and two infant brothers. A celebration of Frieda’s life will be held at 1:30 pm, on Monday, August 19, 2002, at the Evangelical Missionary Church on the corner of Princess Avenue and Williams Street in Chilliwack. A reception will follow. If desired, donations to Charis Camp in memory of Mom would be welcome.
