Franklin Paul MAYER

Frank was born June 10, 1942 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, baptized in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Medicine Hat, Alberta on July 26, 1942.

He was the son of Michael Peter Mayer and Josephina Deis.

He took/received his first Holy Communion in St. Patrick’s Church on May 25, 1952. He lived at 1261 Dominion Street in Medicine Hat and attended St. Mary’s Junior High School and McCoy High School.

He worked for a number of years at the Medicine Hat Flour Mill. Then after encouragement from his uncle in Richmond, BC, he moved there and attended Barber School Downtown Vancouver in 1964. He worked for Principe Bros. in Surrey.

He married Antoinette at 3:00 p.m. in Westminster United Church in Medicine Hat, with reception following at 6:00 p.m. in the Walnut Room on the Corona Hotel, on Saturday, June 8, 1968. After the marriage, they moved into an apartment at #202-8669 Heather St. in Vancouver and lived there until 1970 when they had enough funds for a down payment on their first home at 1828 Langan Ave. in Port Coquitlam. It was here that we had our children Nicole and Steven.

Frank and Antionette moved to Chilliwack in 1975 where he opened the Franklin House of Styles in Cottonwood Mall.

In 1990 he relocated and opened Frank’s Barbershop on Vedder Road in Sardis.

Frank joined the Chilliwack Kinsmen Club in 1975, was a Life Member of the organization and belonged to the K-40 Club. Frank also belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge, Excelsior #7 in Chilliwack.

He leaves behind daughter Nicole (Steve) of Sardis; son, Steven (Kim) of Edmonton; and three grandsons, friends: Don and Rose of Cultus Lake, Norm and Lois of Sardis, Antionette of OK Falls, Ray and Liz of Chilliwack, and many in the community.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, 46008 Reece Ave, Chilliwack.
