Frank Robert WINTERS

April 14, 2007

Frank Robert Winters of Sardis, passed away suddenly on April 14, 2007 at the age of 56 due to complications arising from esophageal cancer.

As in his life, Frank was surrounded by family and friends in his death, who came to express their love and say goodbye.

Frank’s extraordinary goodness, and genial nature

was a natural draw for people from many walks of life, and he will be remembered for his many acts of kindness and his great generosity.

Frank had a strong passion for life, and the unbridled enthusiasm of a child for his hobbies. He drew others into his interests with his infectious sense of fun.

Frank enjoyed flying model planes, collecting model cars, slot car racing and building models. He also liked cars and sports – both watching and playing. He was a flamboyant player of pickleball – and will long be remembered for his competitive game and his red shoes.

He was a loyal fan of both the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team and the Calgary Stampeders Football team.

In past years, Frank and his wife Val traveled the world; Australia, New Zealand, Europe, China, Hong Kong & Thailand. Frank’s favourites would have to be Australia, where he married his wife and visited his dear friends, Larry & Alice – or Germany where Frank loved the people, castles, food and canals of the Rhine & Mosel rivers.

He was very proud of his three children, Michael, Wendy and Daniel, and especially pleased to have welcomed a granddaughter Inika, a little over a year ago.

Frank was the devoted husband of Valerie, caring stepfather of Lesley & Rod and beloved brother of Gail, Lynn, Jim & John.

A service to remember Frank, his unique and special life, is planned for Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home, Tea Room, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack, BC, all those who knew Frank and wish to attend are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frank’s name to his charity of choice Canuck Place (www.canuckplace.org) it provides palliative care for children with terminal illness, including cancer.
