Evelyn Marie Pawson passed away on February 9, 2005 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 90 years. She was born on January 31, 1915 at Milner, BC. Evelyn is survived by her son Graeme (Andrea) Pow, stepson Neville (Pauline) Pawson; grandchildren, Brenda (James) Johnson, Bruce (Kris) Pow, Blake (Wendy) Pow, Jonathan Pawson, Ashley Pawson; great grandchildren, Dylan and Monique Johnson, Kodi and Conner Pow, step great granddaughter, Cassandra Ouellete; brother Fenn Williams, and brother-in-law, Andy Zukewich. She was predeceased by her infant son Morris, first husband, Charles and second husband, Ralph and her sisters Marjorie and Kay.
At the age of 15 years, she was on her own, living in Vancouver, BC. She married Charles Baptie, September 29, 1934. They enjoyed life together until Charles’ passing. She remarried Ralph Pawson on December 21, 1968. They moved to Chilliwack in 1972. Evelyn was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Salvation Army Songster Commission. She loved music and was a soloist. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, painting, bowling, playing cards with her friends. Her home cooked meals were enjoyed by all. She had a gentle quiet spirit and was much loved by those who knew her. She was a great “prayer warrior” and respected as a godly woman. The value of relationships with family and friends was a priority. She will be missed dearly for her positive attitude and stable family influence.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 11:00 am from the Chilliwack Alliance Church 8700 Young Rd. Chilliwack BC; Pastor Harold Throness and Pastor Brian Derksen officiating. If family or friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Hungry for Life Ministry.
