Evelyn Ashton went to be with the Lord, whom she loved, on April 19, 2010 at Chilliwack, BC at the age of 97.
Evelyn was born in Lancashire, England on March 26, 1913 and emigrated to Canada with her husband and family in 1953.
Since moving to Chilliwack in 1994, she was very involved in playing the piano at Watson Road Bible Chapel. She and her husband appreciated the opportunity to direct Bible camps in the Okanagan. She also enjoyed several cruises.
Evelyn and Ken recently celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary. Prayer and the reading of her Bible were an important part of her daily life.
Evelyn is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ken; son, Barry (Alice) of Abbotsford; daughter, Joy (Angel) Bongiorno of Hillsboro, Oregon; grandsons, Colin, Craig and Chris Ashton and Andrew, Mark, Brian, and Neil Bongiorno; their spouses and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as Evelyn’s sister, Annie Roberts.
Predeceased by her sister Bessie Alty, and great-grandson Ryan Ashton.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010 in the Chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack; John Williams officiant. Interment will take place prior to the service at Vedder View Gardens Cemetery.
