Erwin Huesken, left the shackles of this earth on the morning of February 26, 2008, two weeks shy of his 88th birthday.

Erwin was looking forward to Heaven, and to embracing his beloved Thelma again, to whom he was married for 59 years. A journal expressing his gratitude to the Lord was found at his bedside.

Erwin was born in a farmhouse in Macklin, Saskatchewan in 1920. He possessed a love for the land that he cultivated and passed on to children and grandchildren.

Erwin graduated from high school in New Westminster.

In 1941, he was called on to serve his country during WWII, serving as a Lance-Bombardier in the Canadian artillery. During the war, Erwin married Thelma.

In the 50s, Erwin went into business, operating North Delta Service for many years. Erwin served the community as an alderman in Delta from 1956 to 1960.

In retirement, the couple moved to Columbia Valley, enjoying many friendships in the community and in the church.

Erwin worked hard, and was generous with his resources and time. Erwin is survived by three children: Claudia (Victor) Janzen, David (Patricia), Paul (Beverly); eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Erwin’s memorial service will be at the Yarrow M.B. Church on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Viewing on Sunday, March 2, 2008 6:30 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral home. Interment at Yarrow Cemetery.
