Erna Wiebe
At the age of 90, Erna Wiebe passed away peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on August 10, 2017 in Chilliwack, BC. Erna was born November 28, 1926 to Abraham and Sarah Funk (Derksen) in Wembley, AB and was the second eldest of six siblings. Married to Peter Wiebe in 1946 they settled on a small farm in Greendale, BC, later moving to Chilliwack in 1966, where they continued to raise their family and serve as foster parents. Prior to the passing of Peter in 1999, they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Erna will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Christ, the cherished care of her family and friends, and compassion for those in need. Always welcoming, her warm smile, words of encouragement, fresh baking, and loving prayers touched many. She was also deeply committed to the ministry of her local church, serving as a volunteer and staff member for many years. Dedicated to the care of others, she loved unconditionally. Erna was predeceased by her loving husband Peter, sisters Lydia (Cramer) and Margaret (Isaak), brothers John and Abe, daughter-in-law Margaret, and grandchild Jarod (Hutchinson), and is survived by sisters, Vera (Kroeker) and Ann (Burrows). Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Shirley (Dennis), Larry (Kathy), Denis (Ann), Gerald (Barb), Bob (Michelle), Cyndi (Tim), along with 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cameron Ross for his loving care of Erna, and the staff of Lynwood Retirement Residence and Cascade Hospice for their support during her end of life journey. A celebration of her devoted life to Christ will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Chilliwack Alliance Church.
