Emma WOODS

December 9, 2002

On December 9, 2002 the Lord took Emma Woods home at the age of 95. Emma longed for this as she had several health problems in her last years. She was born near Medicine Hat, Alta. on November 4, 1907. Emma was the oldest of eight children, all deceased.

She leaves to mourn, her three sons, Cecil (Edith) Fietz, from Ottawa, Ont., Sidney (Barbara) Fietz from Hope, and Donald (Renee) Fietz of Nanaimo. Also 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives and friends who will miss her.

After her first marriage to Louis Fietz, she then spent six years alone, then in 1955 she married Vivian Woods in Hope. Vivian died in 1995.

Emma was predeceased by her father who died in 1951; Emma’s mother died in 1961; Emma’s one daughter Noreen Stromquist died in 1996.

Rev. Matt Dressler from Chilliwack Baptist Church officiated at a service at Henderson’s chapel on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at 1:30 p.m.

Emma was a long-standing member of Chilliwack Baptist Church despite not being able to attend. Previous to that when her health was good, she and Vivian attended the Evergreen Baptist Church.

Emma had lived in the Waverly since 1995, she was thankful, and had asked when her time would come, to say a very special thank you to the nurses and staff there. Emma did appreciate your help and kindness.

The family entrusted Emma’s funeral to Henderson’s Funeral Home and interment was at the Chilliwack Cemetery.
