On August 24, 2008 Emma completed her journey on earth surrounded by her loved ones at home. She will be remembered by all of us for her boldness and her fighting spirit and the love that she had for her Lord and Saviour, her children, her grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, and her friends.
During her illness she found strength by holding onto a special scripture verse: Isaiah 55:8 “for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways” declares the Lord. Emma wanted to follow God’s will for her life by doing what was right in following the path that God had laid out for her.
Emma has three children; Latonia (Tim), their children, Toren and Jullian; Shane, children Steven and Dylan (Donna) and Devona (Clifford), children Selina, Mason and Dawson. She has 5 brothers and sisters and numerous other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Sidney and Tetje Braaksma.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 7:00 pm from Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack, BC. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 1:00 pm from Glad Tidings Fellowship, 46641 Chilliwack Central Rd. Chilliwack. Pastor Shawn Vandop will officiate. Pall bearers will be Sidney Braaksma, Jack Braaksma, Charlie Braaksma, Fritz Ludwig, Gary Vandop (Honourary) and Alisha Cartmell (Honourary).
If family and friends so desire, memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Agassiz Kids at the Cross.
Thank you, to the Fraser Valley Home Health nurses, friends and family during this time. A special thank you to Gary and Wilma for their love, care and support that they gave to our mom.
