Dec. 5, 1940 – Feb. 4, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Lovina Klassen, nee Ewaschuk, at the age of 69.

She will be dearly remembered and sadly missed by her children Joanne (John), Byron, Kevin (Melissa), and Michelle (Dale); her grandchildren Rachelle, Cameron, Connor and Dylan; her brother Edward; as well as many dear friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Mary, and her brothers, William, John and Joseph.

Elsie was born in the rural community of Lamont, Alberta. As a child she loved the outdoor adventures of living on the farm. She followed her dreams as a young woman and obtained a career as a radiological technician, working at Chilliwack General Hospital for 8 years, then in Edmonton for 18 more years specializing in Mammography.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and fulfillment.

She loved to follow current events, and participating in a good discussion on politics. She was very creative and loved crafts, working with fabrics and materials producing lovable keepsakes for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, preparing authentic Ukrainian dinners, festive decorating and entertaining in her home. Elsie was generous, caring and a loyal friend. She had recently moved to Abbotsford to be near her children.

Elsie passed away suddenly in her home on Thursday, February 4, 2010.

A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held on Monday, February 15 at Henderson’s Funeral Chapel, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford. Reception to follow.
