(Betty)
Passed away in Chilliwack General Hospital July 6, 2008 at the age of 86.
Betty was born in Dunfermline, Scotland on Jan. 23, 1922. She and her husband, Harry, imigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s and spent many years working in co-op management in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before moving to BC where they managed property in New Westminster until they returned to Cottonwood Village in Sardis.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Harry and daughter Elizabeth.
For the past 19 years, Betty has enjoyed living in Cottonwood Village. She liked nothing better than for family and friends to drop in for a visit and/or a game of Rummy!
Betty loved to read and do crosswords and was a perfectionist at anything she turned her hand to. Her beautiful cross-stitch sewing was a fine example.
Betty was always good company at our family dinners and gatherings. She was Aunt Betty to everyone!
Betty is survived by nieces and nephews and their families.
It was Betty’s wish that we only have a private family gathering to celebrate her life.
The Day God Called You Home
God looked around His garden
And found an empty space;
He then looked down upon earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest;
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you might never
Get well upon this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you never went alone.
