(Betty)

(nee Ryan)

(1952 - 2008)

Betty Campbell passed away peacefully on June 30, 2008 at Mission Memorial Hospital, where she had resided for five years.

Betty was born in Dawson City, Yukon on Oct. 31, 1913, the oldest of 10 children, and then moved to Chilliwack with her family as a young child. She grew up on Unsworth Road where her parents Ed and Nora Ryan owned a chicken farm. She married Herb Campbell and resided in Sardis on Melville St. for many years, until moving to Maple Ave., Chilliwack in 1982. Betty worked for many years at Fraser Valley Frosted Foods and then York Farms.

After retiring from York Farms, Betty devoted much of her time to volunteer work. She was a member of Carman United Church UCW, visited the sick and elderly, and was an avid volunteer for the Red Cross. She greatly enjoyed her garden and was always happiest amongst her flower beds.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Herbert and her siblings: Dorothy, Ed, Nora Eileen, Margaret, Corinne, Hazel and Jim.

Betty is survived by her sister Frances; her daughter, Jean (Fred) Northgraves; four grandchildren: Cathy (Lorne) Oss, Maureen (Mats) Strahl, Doug (Cathy) Northgraves, Lorill (Keith) Britz; 11 great-grandchildren: Keith, Janine, Leanne, Thomas, David, Bonnie, Daniel, Emily, Ben, Ryan, and Sarah; three great-great-grandchildren: Jayden, Kourtney and Kwentyn.

Many thanks to wonderful staff at Extended Care at Mission Memorial Hospital who cared for Betty for the past five years.

A family graveside service will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice are welcome.
